Rope Lighting for better lighting

30 March 2010

A drive way, a walk way, or even an entrance way can all be very darkness. A lot of of our neighborhoods either don’t have street lamp or the street lights don’t propose enough lighting to prevent you from tripping and falling. In point of fact, it has been demonstrated that most personal attacks such as robberies and sexual assault can be precluded by lighting. Evil doers don’t like to do matters in the light for they might be seen by their victim or person passing by; they would much kind of do their dirty deed under the veil of darkness. These particular very public areas of your home and belongings can easily be lit by led rope lighting.

Rope lighting is easy to set up, affordable to buy, and energy efficient. Rope lighting can well be placed on the ground and left there if one genuinely wanted to. It’s suggested that the rope lights are added on in some way. You can by clips or hooks. There are a lot of producers that sell a solid track that you’ll be able to bolt into the ground. You can also apply nails and zip ties that work just also.

Not only is it at ease, it is green and assists out the environment with putting out only 1 watt per foot. This little outage likened to the amount of light that is produced by these, is fantastic. A lot of people wonder, but will it break my cost? No. Rope lights can be shopped at the unbelievable low price of a mere $2-3/per foot, naturally upgrades will cost more.

A Lighting elegance

28 March 2010

With the right lighting laid in the right location, you can accomplish a touch of class. These positions can be a cove or over a set of cabinets or even below a toe kick. If you’re inventive, you can likely come up with another places for this type of accent illuminating.

The type of light you’d ask to apply in this type of application hinges upon where the lighting will be located. The most basic or easiest to set up is rope lighting. The benefits of rope lighting is it can be installed by a do it yourself single. The price is also the lowest both in fabric and installation. Another style of accent lighting used in this case is a low voltage linear system such as Halo Linea. This type of system is a bit harder and for most people would involve a professional. The benefit of this type of lighting over rope lighting is that they are much brighter and can be more efficient. It’s also less affordable in both material and installment costs, but worth the money in my opinion.

Another formula that deserves mention is LED flexible tube lighting. This has various benefits over most other methods. One very significant one is it comes in dissimilar colors. Another great benefits is very long bulb life and low energy utilization. This is also the most pricey.

Supplying lighting in a cove made of crown molding can genuinely bring in a statement. As an example, I am working at present on a 20 foot long curved ceiling with a cove made of crown molding on both sides. Applying a low voltage linear system in that molding, it takes the ceiling just glow attractively. Another genuinely good place for accent lighting is below the toe kick of cabinets. In a bath it can add a real touch of romance for that time spent in the swirl.

Picking out curtain tracks

25 March 2010

When choosing curtain tracks, consider the following factors:

Type Curtain tracks fall into three general categories:

Manually operated- Here the curtains are hung on plastic gliders, and are opened and closed by pulling. To avoid handling the curtains, you can purchase draw rods. Manual curtain tracks are the most economical, and are usually long-lasting with no maintenance required.

Corded – These tracks have a pulley system so you can open and close your curtains by pulling on a cord at the side. Corded tracks help to prevent soiling, and are also useful for heavy, tall and/or difficult to reach curtains. Occasional cleaning is recommended, followed by a spray lubricant to prolong the life of the tracks.

Electric – Motorised curtain tracks open and close your curtains automatically. They are ideal for heavy, hard to reach or delicate curtains, and are operated by a wall switch or remotely. Electric tracks may be light activated, or have a timer that can be set to open and close when you require, providing extra security for when you are not at home.

Colour

Many curtain track designs are quite basic, but more stylish options are available, enabling you to co-ordinate your tracks with your décor. Colours include white, silver, bronze, gold, brass, brushed metal, cream and black.

Material

Curtain tracks are typically made from plastic, metal, or both. Common materials include PVC, aluminium and steel.

PVC – PVC is the lightest and most flexible material, and also the most economical. PVC tracks are best used with light- and medium-weight curtains.

Aluminium – Aluminium tracks are durable and strong. They are also bendable, making them ideal for bay windows. Regular aluminium tracks are best for light- and medium-weight curtains, although heavy duty aluminium curtain tracks may also be available.

Steel – Steel tracks are strong, and are suitable for heavyweight curtains, but they are not bendable, so their use is restricted to straight windows.

Metal curtain tracks may be painted; white is a common colour, and they are also available in other colours, such as black, silver, or brass tones. They may also be extendable, making them very versatile. Metal tracks may be enhanced by a Teflon coating for an extra-smooth operation.

Shape and Size

Curtain tracks are available for both straight and curved windows. Aluminum and PVC tracks can be bent, and aluminum is preferable for tighter bends, although care should be taken, as it cannot bend back, unlike PVC. Heavy duty aluminum is normally supplied in the correct shape and size by the retailer. Aluminum and PVC can also be cut to fit with a hacksaw.

When fitting a curtain track inside a recessed window, the track should be slightly shorter than the space available. For outside recesses, allow several inches of track each side of the window, to let in maximum light.

Both bendable and non-bendable valance tracks are also available.

If you’re looking for a great deal on curtain tracks, it’s a good idea to shop online, as many online retailers offer low prices. Buying curtain tracks online is also convenient as they will be delivered straight to your door!
